NSEFO - visit website - Graduates of the Executive Fire Officer Program, EFOP, and NSEFO members have taken another step to assure that tomorrow's fire service has the best possible leaders. NSEFO members must continue to discover and identify future fire service leaders. As illustrated by the story of a pastor from a poor farming community who was asked how extraordinary things were accomplished by common folks, he explained that the key to success was simply to place a halo over someone's head and wait patiently until the person grows into it. Too often we come in contact with fire personnel who have never considered how they, personally, can have an impact on the fire service. We should not fail to provide the encouragement and opportunities necessary for them to see the "halo" and begin the growth process. If we can train ourselves to see others standing under a halo, we may just be able to identify the fire service leader(s) of tomorrow.
